how I came
While training my own body in dance, I experienced changes taking place in me on a deeper level. Soon, dance constituted a new space to let things happen. Through my own experience with dance and movement, it became clear for me to work with the ´body moving through space` while working psychologically and psychotherapeutically.

dance movement therapy
This is a psychotherapeutic approach which involves movement and the experience of one´s body in movement as the sources of information to work with. The movement of a body holds meanings. In therapy that involves the material of a moving body, the attention is directed to make these meanings conscious. The body self-awareness in every moment is supported. In the therapeutical work, person´s creative process (the process of creation of a move, movement phrase, image, words or a story) is encouraged to unfold. The convergence of bodily experience, thinking, image and emotion is endorsed through the moving body. This in order to work introspectively with the person on that (themes, questions, …) which actually demands the attention. The nonverbal experience is usually accompanied by reflection in which the lived (sensed, felt, imagined) gains verbal meanings.
Dance movement therapy session can be designed for different people, following the treatment goals and other professionals working with them. A dance movement therapy session might serve a client suffering from severe psychological complaints so as a person who wishes to discover new aspects of her/himself.
